The Last Day and Long Flight Home

Our epic, once in a lifetime journey across America has reached its end.

We spent our final day meandering around, trying to wring the last drop out of our last day here in San Fran and in fact in America.

Last stop before the airport was Levis’s Stadium for an official tour. It was very impressive and quite nicely rounded off our honeymoon, which was punctuated with many a stadium tour or event.

The man running the tour, Pat, is a legend. Apparently what he doesn’t know about the 49ers is not worth knowing. Steven was also a lovely man and Pete was able to bend his ear to talk up Jarryd Hayne (as he had done from Dallas, to New York, and all the way across America).

After the tour, we found our way to the airport, returned our trusty rental vehicle and got set for our flight.

The quiet time before our flight, and in fact the near 14 hour flight home, gave us the opportunity to reflect on our past 26 days. What a ride!

Fun facts about our trip:
– we drove over 8,800km (5,500 miles)
– we visited 16 states including Texas, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California.
– we visited 10 stadiums – The Super Dome in New Orleans, AT&T in Arlington TX, American Airlines Arena in Dallas TX, Madison Square Gardens in  NYC, Yankee Satdium in NYC, Chesapeake Energy Stadium in Oklahoma City, Staples Centre in Downtown LA, Oracle Arena in Oakland CA, The Coliseum in Oakland CA and last but not least Levis’s Stadium in Santa Clara CA.
– 26 days, spent together 24 hours a day and still returned home a very happily married couple 🙂
