Today we headed over to Fort Worth. Not being huge country kinda people, we really did not know what to expect. As we were a little short on time, we headed to the Stockyards National Historic Avenue, which had some old western buildings like the cattle stock exchange, bull riding hall of fame, and some very boutique boot stores. I am on the hunt for a pair of awesome boots, but ever the tight arse, I was not prepared to part with $400 USD to make this happen. I will check it out again when we are in Nashville, etc.
One of the highlights of this trip was the parking meter system them used here. Basically, you get your dollar bills, or one $5 bill and literally stuff it into the hole that corresponds to the car park you are in.
Genius!
It was a bitterly cold day in Fort Worth, unseasonably so. We huddled in our big coats and chucked as we saw people who were quite ill prepared for such weather.
We eventually called it a day and hit Dallas again so we could check in to our motel, that we would get to call home for 4 nights. It seemed somewhat luxurious to be able to stay in the same place for 4 nights in
a row. We stayed at the Sheraton in Dallas which was massive! The foyer to the conference rooms was bigger than pretty much any function centre I had ever seen!
In the afternoon, we had an AXXESS session, which is pretty much a massive big room, with lots of lines, where you can line up for the chance to see your favourite wrestling personality. Notice my words here, “you have the chance to meet”. The talent changes every 2 hours, so you could be all lined up to see your favourite superstar, only to have two hours pass and then your least favourite star comes along. It is all a roll of the dice.
The first night, Pete and I split our resources and I lined up to see Paul Hayman, while Pete lined up to see R-Truth. Pete got to see R-Truth and had pics taken. I did not get to see Paul Hayman, but thems the
breaks.
After this, was NXT. NXT is a bit of an underground movement, and they are becoming a feeder for the WWE main roster. This event was held in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Centre and was a good sized venue, however considered a large venue for the numbers typically viewing NXT live. I found the whole thing very entertaining as it was just like a pantomime. Cheer for the good guys, boo the bad guys. Chanting, clapping, cheering. The highlight of this night was Fin Balor coming out to beat Samoa Joe. Our household loves Fin Balor. Â
